SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT

Caledonian Building Services recognizes the requirement to conduct the business in such a way as to ensure so far as reasonably practicable, that employees and others who may be affected by our operations are not exposed to risks to their health and safety. Health and Safety is a core value in our business, as a minimum we will strive to fulfill both the spirit and letter of the law but in addition take a proactive approach to achieve continual improvement in performance.

We believe all injuries are preventable and we are committed to sending everyone home each day just as sound as when they arrived at work.

We believe that achieving high standards of health and safety contributes to business performance and that the way we manage health and safety and quality of service go together.

To achieve our health and safety objectives we will maintain an Injury and Illness Prevention Program that commits to:

  • Provide adequate resources to successfully manage health and safety at work.

  • Promote joint consultation and cooperation on matters concerning health, safety and welfare to ensure opportunities for effective participation by all employees.

  • Promote the development of a positive health and safety culture based on fairness, trust, and co-operation, where all accidents and incidents are reported and we learn from our mistakes to prevent recurrence.

  • Ensure that the level of risk from all significant health and safety hazards is assessed and, so far as reasonably practicable, eliminated or adequately controlled.

  • Provide appropriate instruction, training, re-training and supervision in health and safety to maintain the competence levels of all employees.

  • Provide all employees with safe plant and equipment along with safe systems of work.

  • Ensure that all employees are aware of and carry out their health and safety roles and responsibilities.

  • Ensure effective communication of health and safety information.
  • Continually monitor health and safety performance to ensure the implementation and adequacy of this policy.

The overall responsibility for heath and safety management throughout Caledonian is vested with the Vice President, who will ensure this policy is implemented.
